H&A was selected as the on-call architect for the Atlantis Charter School in Fall River, MA. Working with the school to realize their evolving vision of a multidisciplinary academic experience, we are currently designing a future-forward outdoor classroom. The classroom consists of a “lean-to” style performance pavilion with ample outdoor group seating, in addition to backstage areas and a dedicated demi-lune peace garden adjacent to the stage. The 650 SF wood structure features an expansive, resilient roof for protection from variations in the New England climate. The classroom will accommodate plays and concerts, outdoor assembly, and any variety of plein-air activities during and beyond the academic year.
The school worked ardently to raise the funds for this unique project, and H&A is partnering to help them introduce this environmentally friendly and creative new learning space.
