Master Plan

  • Coeducational, 800 student Catholic High School

  • Multi-phase Master Plan

  • Designed conversion of under-utilized convent into science and computer laboratories, a library, and administrative space

Following in-depth discussions with the Cardinal Spellman community to obtain an understanding of their needs and desires for the future of the school, Habeeb & Associates Architects documented the existing space inventory and conducted a physical condition assessment. Following an examination of the components, our research concluded that the school had a need for additional educational and support space. Specifically, the sciences, arts and athletic areas were in need of expansion and updating.

In addition to the lack of space, there were also a number of physical and environmental conditions which needed to be addressed. Accessibility for the disabled, more attractive surroundings for the cafeteria, and a kitchen with adequate serving lines to facilitate student needs during the harried lunch period were required.

After careful analysis H&A developed a preliminary, multi-phase Master Plan which focused on relocating functions and adding to the campus where necessary. By converting the under-utilized convent into science and computer laboratories, a library, and administrative space, we were able to re-develop the existing spaces to support the need for general classrooms and art rooms.
